Magnus Kir Cover ideas…

I just got my first look at some VERY basic sketches from David concerning the cover.  He does have one more on the way…here are his thoughts:

“1) A drawing or illustration of the wall with foliage making a border of sorts and the exposed wall in the center of the cover. In the wall is a tunnel with two eyes peering out of it.

2) The wall would take up 1/2 to 3/4 of the cover and be rather dark, providing a backdrop for the title. Over the top of the wall we would see the woods or land “out there”.
3) The third idea I’m working on is more symbolic in nature so it needs some refining.”

After seeing these I am concerned about the first one…I don’t think the hole in the wall should be visible (or else wouldn’t intruders get in?) In the book, the hole is almost underground and covered in so much foliage, that you can’t see it…so that wouldn’t make a great book cover.

But the second one shows some promise. Yes, He spelled Kir wrong :), but that withstanding, I could imagine a small boy at the bottom right of the frame looking up at the top of the wall. Or is that too cheeky?
