“I’m attaching another sketch that includes the best elements, I think, for the cover. The style would be similar to that Life of Pi cover I sent. We would have an young boy (abstract, simple shapes) on one side of the wall with leaves and menacing branches/thorns encroaching on the other side. The wall would be stone but also spell out “Magnus Kir”. Again, I’m thinking very basic shapes here relatively flat with some shading. Very eye-catching and hopefully creating that wondering like you experienced with the Life of Pi book. Just wondering, what kind of clothing would the protagonist wear?”
My return comments:
The only thing that concerns me with your reference to the Life of Pi book is the coloration. Of course, I’d like it to be a little darker (literally and metaphorically)….more mysterious. This may be something in your mind already- I just wanted to make sure.
I love that you are incorporating Zack. I hadn’t really thought about his outfit for this… but definitely not anything elaborate. Remember that they are making their own clothing… So I’d say that he has on basic leather pants, simple dark brown shoes (boots?) and a single-colored shirt….maybe a leather vest? No….cheesy. How about a thin cotton, hooded sweatshirt- but since there are no zippers, have the front tie together like shoe laces (but the laces should be thick- like a thick drawstring – maybe with oversized gromets?.) I don’t want him to be amish and homely, but he shouldn’t look american/modern either- well, he is from another planet!”
